What is Summer Balm?
Summer Balm combines Bug Balm and Sun Balm in one jar for complete outdoor protection during hot, humid, insect-active conditions. It provides both citronella/eucalyptus insect deterrent and non-nano zinc oxide UV barrier in a single application.
How to Use Summer Balm
- Apply to exposed skin before outdoor activity (face, arms, legs, neck)
- Rub until balm melts and absorbs — spreads thinly without white cast
- Reapply every 2-3 hours during extended sun and bug exposure
- Water-resistant up to 40 minutes (reapply after swimming)
- Seasonal lead product June-September in humid, bug-active climates
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Summer Balm used for?
Combined sun and insect protection for summer outdoor activity. Beach days, hiking in humid environments, camping, fishing, yard work during peak bug season. One product instead of carrying two.
Should I use this or Bug Balm + Sun Balm separately?
Use Summer Balm when you need both protections simultaneously (hot, sunny, bug-active conditions). Use Bug Balm alone for shaded trails. Use Sun Balm alone for dry, low-bug environments.
Does it leave white cast?
Minimal. The zinc oxide spreads thinly and absorbs better than most mineral sunscreens. Some white tint immediately after application, but fades within 2-3 minutes.
Is it safe for kids?
Yes. Mineral sunscreen + botanical bug deterrent, no DEET, no chemical sunscreen actives. Still test small area first.
What SPF is this?
Not labeled with SPF (requires FDA testing), but 20% non-nano zinc oxide provides broad-spectrum UV protection comparable to SPF 30-40.
Summer Balm vs Individual Products
Summer Balm vs Bug Balm: Summer Balm adds zinc oxide for UV protection. If you're in sun + bugs simultaneously, use Summer Balm. If only bugs (shaded trail), Bug Balm alone is fine.
Summer Balm vs Sun Balm: Summer Balm adds citronella/eucalyptus for bug deterrent. If you're in sun but low bug pressure, Sun Balm alone is sufficient.
